How to get more customers to your restaurant.
As we’ve seen from the last few years, relying on seasonality, footfall, and regulars can leave hospitality businesses vulnerable.
Running a restaurant, bar or venue is a huge undertaking and with a million plates to spin, trying to plan and execute a marketing strategy can be exhausting.
So what do most businesses do? In short, not a lot. Not knowing the fundamentals, how to start, and how much it costs usually means they ignore the elephant in the room and hope the customers keep flowing.
So read on below to see how we approach marketing for hospitality clients to deliver a flow of new customers so they can go back to focusing on running their business.
Social Media Growth
Grow your social media following for a lifetime of opportunity to turn followers into customers. You can do this by boosting your best-performing social posts and driving people to your Instagram page.
Direct Booking Campaigns
Let the algorithm optimise the campaign to do exactly as it says on the tin, increasing bookings.
Awareness Uplift
Get your brand noticed by your target audience at scale so they know who you are and what you do. Cheaper to run, but once your name is out there, the longer-term impact can be massive.
3 ways to fill those tables
So how do you do it?
01
The first step in any marketing campaign is to drill down and understand who your customers are and where you can reach them. It’s often surprising how little some brands know about their customers but you likely already have a whole load of data you can use to help you find out what you need to know.
Customer booking lists, social media followers, and Google search terms can all offer you a rich amount of usable data you can add to what you already know about the customers you see day to day.
02
Decide what campaign objective you want to run, we've highlighted 3 of our most used above which can all be a good starting point depending on your goals.
03
Build some compelling creative! This often can be the most challenging but our advice is to initially look at your existing creative and see what you have to work with. We often find that our best-performing ads are high-performing content our clients have already posted on their own social media accounts.
Platforms
Facebook & Instagram
Still the biggest social media platforms by a comfortable margin and where you have some of the most powerful targeting options available. The available formats also give you complete control over how you communicate your brand, whether that’s a captivating reel to show off your atmosphere, a carousel of images to bring your menu to life, or a singular image to land your latest promotion.
Social media advertising is a hugely effective way of engaging with a new group of potential customers by actively targeting them and showing them what you’re about.
Once you've chosen your approach, you then need to decide how best to get your brand in front of them.
For hospitality clients, we usually recommend the two platforms below to give you the best chance of success.
Platforms
A few things are certain in life and one of them is that we almost all use Google whenever we are online. The search engine has 94% of the market here in the UK so it’s undoubtedly a foolproof way of reaching your new customers.
The key difference between search engine marketing, commonly called PPC, and social media advertising is that with Google, you are reaching customers who are actively looking for what you offer. The key benefit here is that they are much more likely to click on your ad and engage with what you’re offering. You also only pay when someone clicks on your ad so can be very cost-efficient.

Important to consider
Before you now go off and have some fun marketing your business, there are a few things you want to make sure you do before you pull the trigger.
-
Tracking - Make sure you install your pixels or API’s to record bookings.
-
Reporting - The KPI’s depending on your strategy but if you’re going solely for booking you’ll want to know your cost per booking
They go hand in hand but before you run anything, you need to know what the impact is so setting up your digital tracking and knowing what the results mean will give you the confidence to scale!
"Taller is honestly a breath of fresh air. From the first chat to account setup, the whole process was hassle-free"
"Dave is a legend. Not that many marketers can see the bigger strategic picture AND have an intimate knowledge of the modern tactics and tools to grow a business, but Dave can do both."
"Dependable, creative, technically excellent and results-driven - David and Taller Digital are an absolute joy to work with"
"I had the pleasure of working with David and Taller Digital and I couldn't be more impressed with their commitment to deliver measurable results and drive the growth of our business."

Frequently Asked Questions
See the most frequently asked questions about our services.
How soon will I see results?
Depending on your goals, you may see results fairly soon after setting your campaigns live. We do advise that you factor in a ‘learning’ period into your campaigns to allow the algorithm to optimise.
Am I locked into a contract?
As standard, we offer no minimum terms on our retainers. This allows both parties the flexibility to adapt as we go.
What’s the difference between ad spend and management fee?
Your ad spend is what you directly pay to the platforms to serve your ads. Agencies will charge a management fee outside of this to plan and execute those campaigns for you.
What platforms do you specialise in?
We have experience with and offer a service for all major ad platforms. The most popular tend to be Meta, Google, TikTok and Amazon.
Do you shoot and create fresh content?
We as an agency don’t currently offer raw asset production as a service but work with a range of partners who would be able to help if this was needed.
Do you offer a free trial?
Unfortunately not due to the work involved. We do however have no minimum terms on our retainers so if you weren’t happy with the results then you can look at pausing or stopping any activity when it suits you.
