How to get more customers for your food & drink brand.
The food and beverage industry is incredibly dynamic and with consumer trends changing so frequently, the space to satisfy consumer demand is always super competitive.
For new and emerging brands, fighting for the physical and digital space to be not just visible but noticed is fierce. So to stand a chance of success, and build a loyal and engaged customer base, it’s crucial for brands to proactively tackle the challenge head-on.
So we’ve pulled together a summary of how we help food and drink brands build their client base through digital ads. If you sell online, either through your site or Amazon then we also have a separate guide here that may be worth checking out.
Awareness
What your audience doesn’t know, they cannot buy. Highlighting the brand and the product as well as where and how to buy can be done at scale to ensure your new customers have you in mind next time they are looking to purchase.
Organic Boosting
This is crucial in the early stage of growth for your business. The benefits are increased engagement and followers whilst allowing your best content to reach those who would likely never see it. This is particularly powerful when combined with influencer or user-generated content Remember, you have a lifetime to turn a follower into a customer once they are a part of your social audience.
Newsletter
Similar to your followers, if you have a newsletter where you offer value then boosting your subscriber list can give you a lot of power when you have important updates, releases, and selling periods to engage an already captive audience.
3 ways to grow your clients
So how do you do it?
01
The first step in any marketing campaign is to understand who your ideal customers are and where you can reach them. It’s likely that you already have data you can use to get a head start, such as your social media following and current customer database. For our food and drink clients, we start by defining the target demographic and building from there. Combined with the data available this will give a good picture of where and how to build your campaigns.
02
Decide what campaign objective you want to run, we've highlighted 3 of our most used above which can all be a good starting point depending on your goals.
03
Build some compelling creative! For challenger brands, it’s so important to stand out and be noticed. Powerful product imagery and branding is crucial but if you are tight on resource then don’t be afraid to think outside the box. UGC-style content, if done well, can be impactful and talk to your potential customers in a way that other content can’t.
Platforms
Facebook & Instagram
Still the giant of the social media world and the most sophisticated in terms of targeting and format options available. Through either video or impactful imagery you can get your message across exactly how you want to.
Social media advertising is great for engaging with a brand-new group of clients by seeking them out and making sure they are aware of who you are.
Once you've chosen your approach, you then need to decide how best to get your brand in front of them.
For food & drink clients, we usually recommend the two platforms below to give you the best chance of success.
Platforms
TikTok
Not just for Gen-Z anymore, users of all age groups are now heavily using the platform to consume content. More importantly though, TikTok users are increasingly using the platform for verifying brands and products.
It’s important to note that if you’re an alcohol brand then as of the time of writing, TikTok doesn’t allow you to promote your products via ads on the platform.
Platforms

Before you now go off and have some fun growing your brand, there are a few things you want to make sure you do before you pull the trigger.

Frequently Asked Questions
See the most frequently asked questions about our services.
How soon will I see results?
Depending on your goals, you may see results fairly soon after setting your campaigns live. We do advise that you factor in a ‘learning’ period into your campaigns to allow the algorithm to optimise.
Am I locked into a contract?
As standard, we offer no minimum terms on our retainers. This allows both parties the flexibility to adapt as we go.
What’s the difference between ad spend and management fee?
Your ad spend is what you directly pay to the platforms to serve your ads. Agencies will charge a management fee outside of this to plan and execute those campaigns for you.
What platforms do you specialise in?
We have experience with and offer a service for all major ad platforms. The most popular tend to be Meta, Google, TikTok and Amazon.
Do you shoot and create fresh content?
We as an agency don’t currently offer raw asset production as a service but work with a range of partners who would be able to help if this was needed.
Do you offer a free trial?
Unfortunately not due to the work involved. We do however have no minimum terms on our retainers so if you weren’t happy with the results then you can look at pausing or stopping any activity when it suits you.
